FARIBAULT, MINN. - Shattuck-St. Mary’s Girls U17 goalkeeper Nadia Cooper ‘21 received her fourth national team call up in the past 14 months on Monday, April 29 as USA Soccer announced the U.S. Under-17 Women’s National Team roster for the upcoming UEFA Women’s International Development Tournament.
The tournament, which will be held May 13-17 in northern Portugal, will feature four teams - USA, Mexico, Russia, and Portugal. Cooper is one of two goalkeepers invited to the tournament that will prepare for the 2020 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup.
“A fourth call up for Nadia is a tangible reward for the work she has put in to develop on and off the field. To be selected for an international trip carries a little extra weight and with this being the start of a World Cup cycle for the 2020 tournament it is an opportunity for her to potentially earn a spot on that team,” stated Joe DeMay, Director of Girls Soccer.
The U.S. will play their first game on May 13 against Mexico at Estádio São Sebastião in Mirandela.
