FARIBAULT, MINN. - Shattuck-St. Mary’s Soccer Center of Excellence members Morrie Budler ‘18 and Mitch Budler ‘21 will be taking their skills on the field and transferring them to the court this summer.
On Monday, July 17, the Budler brothers received word that they would have the opportunity to represent the United States in the international futsal series in San Jose, Costa Rica July 23-30.
As part of the selection process, Morrie and Mitch both took part in the fourth annual U.S. Youth Futsal National I.D. Trials in Overland Park, Kansas. The two-and-a-half day trial saw 500 boys and girls vying for 72 spots on the international teams. With their selections, Morrie will be a court player on the boys U18 team and Mitchell will serve as goalkeeper for the boys U14 team.
Futsal, the only form of indoor soccer recognized by FIFA, is a very fast-paced game played with a smaller ball on a basketball-sized court.
