FARIBAULT, MN - Continuing their homestand for the month of April, the Shattuck-St. Mary’s Boys U16DA soccer team took on FC United Soccer Club and the Chicago Sockers this past weekend in Faribault, Minnesota.
Strong goaltending by both teams led to a 0-0 tie between SSM and FC United on Saturday. Though there were no goals scored by the Sabres, they were able to control possession for most of the game as well as create numerous scoring chances. Finn Simmersbach ‘18 recorded the shutout for SSM.
Scoring was silent for the majority of Sunday’s game against the Chicago Sockers until SSM scored in the 41st minute. The Sabres lead was quickly answered, however, as the Sockers scored two quick goals in the 52nd and 58th minutes and once more in the 71st minute to solidify a 3-1 victory.
The Sabres will close out their homestand this weekend against Crew SC Academy Wolves and Vardar.
