Boys U15DA Finish Home Season with Two Wins

FARIBAULT, MINN.  -  The Shattuck-St. Mary's Boys U15DA soccer team finished up the home portion of their regular season with strong performances against two Development Academy opponents over the weekend.

On Saturday, SSM took the field against Crew SC Academy Wolves and it was a hard-fought game throughout. A handball in the box by Crew SC Academy Wolves in the first half provided SSM with the opportunity to break through. Griffin Gyruci '22 converted on the penalty kick and SSM led 1-0 at the half. A scoreless second half and a strong defensive performance by Mitch Budler '21 in goal allowed the Sabres to take home the 1-0 victory.

On Sunday, SSM returned to the field against Vardar and it proved to be another close game. The teams played to a scoreless first half and the Sabres were finally able to break through in the middle of the second half. Matthew Roou '21 fired a high shot off the goalie's fingertips and into the goal giving SSM a 1-0 lead. That lead would stand with another strong defensive performance and back-to-back shutouts, allowing SSM to take home another 1-0 win.

The Sabres will travel to Chicago for their final regular season game against FC United on June 2 as they look to grab another DA win and improve their strong 10-7-2 conference record.
