DETROIT, MICH. - Another October weekend for another Shattuck-St. Mary’s Girls Prep tournament victory.
Traveling to Detroit, Mich. for the Two Nations College Prep Series, SSM took to the ice determined to keep the tournament champion title which they captured at last year’s Two Nations series.
Their first game came against Ridley, whom they silenced in net with an 8-0 victory to start the tournament. In their next three games, the Sabre offense notched 14 goals while their opponents were held to only two. The strong offense and defense held in the championship game as the Sabres defeated Sudbury 8-1 to keep the championship title
Casey O’Brien ‘20 led SSM on the weekend with eight goals and six assists. Makenna Webster ‘20 was close behind with three goals and eight assists in the tournament. Senior goaltender Eli Ray ‘19 stopped 36 of 41 shots, and Suzette Faucher stopped 31 of 32 shots, along with notching one assist.
“We are playing very well together. There are still things that we are going to work to improve upon, and we will continue to push ourselves as the season rolls on,” said assistant coach Melissa Boik.
The Sabres will return to the ice this weekend for a three-game series against Chicago Mission in Faribault, Minn.
