FARIBAULT, MINN. - Former Sabre goaltender Aerin Frankel ‘17 has been named Women’s Hockey East Association (WHEA) Goaltender of the Month after a solid month in goal for Northeastern. The following statement was released by Northeastern University Athletics.
Frankel posted a 3-2-1 record with a 1.60 goals against average, a .950 save percentage and two shutouts during November. The Briarcliff Manor, New York native stopped 30 or more shots in three of her six appearances, including a 39-save effort in a 3-2 upset against No. 1 Wisconsin on Nov. 24.
Frankel also turned aside 39 shots in a shutout of Maine on Nov. 18, and blanked Merrimack with a 19-save effort on Nov. 10.
For the season, Frankel ranks 13th in the nation with a 1.93 goals against average, while her .940 save percentage ranks sixth nationally.
The freshman netminder was previously honored as the Hockey East Co-Player of the Week on Nov. 27 as well as the WHEA Defensive Player of the Week on Nov. 13.
