FARIBAULT, MN - The Shattuck-St. Mary’s Boys Prep hockey team completed their regular season schedule this past weekend with a pair of wins against Sioux Falls.
In their first contest on Friday, Jeremy Davidson ‘18 connected with Bobby Trivigno ‘17 and Philip Lapointe ‘18 to open the scoring for the Sabres in the first period. Three additional SSM goals by Lapointe, Caleb Rule ‘17, and Trivigno in the second and third periods secured the Sabres lead and 4-2 win. Goaltender Jack Robbel ‘17 stopped 26 of 28 shots, earning him his 15th win of the season.
The Sabres once again got on the board first in Saturday’s game, but Sioux Falls answered with two goals to give themselves the 2-1 lead at the end of the first. Two quick goals for each team early in the second evened the score to 2-2, but only for a brief moment. By the end of the second period, the Sabres added seven goals to the scoreboard, which included three from Sam Stevens ‘18. A quiet third period ensured the 9-3 victory for the Sabres and the 19th win of the season for goaltender Vince Shonka ‘17, who made 27 saves in the game.
Boys Prep will travel to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania this coming week to compete in the USA Hockey National Tournament, starting on April 6.
