MONTREAL – Three former Sabres experienced the “gold medal feeling” Thursday night as Team USA defeated Team Canada in the gold medal game of the IIHF World Junior Championship.
Clayton Keller, Jordan Greenway, and Ryan Lindgren all played vital roles for Team USA throughout their seven-game win streak. By tournament’s end last night, Keller had recorded three goals and eight assists, leading all U.S. players. Greenway followed close behind with a tournament total of three goals and five assists. With these impressive totals, Keller and Greenway, along with teammate Charlie McAvoy, were named Team USA’s Best Three Players of the Tournament. Greenway and Lindgren also received U.S. Player of the Game honors in the preliminary games against Latvia and Canada respectively.
The gold medal marks Team USA’s fourth gold medal at the IIHF World Championships and tenth medal overall.
