The SSM Bantams punched their ticket to the National tournament with a pair of wins in the MN Playoffs over the weekend. The Sabres opened the weekend with a 7-1 victory over the Green Giants in an offensive showcase with goals from five different skaters.
The championship game pitted the Sabres against the Walleyes. SSM found themselves in an early hole, but they bounced back with a resilient effort and strong low play to tie the score at 2 after the first period of play. Despite a strong second frame, the Sabres were down 4-3 heading into the 3rd period. The Bantam squad stuck together and showed their grit, coming from behind once again. Connor Mahony scored the equalizer early in the frame, and the go-ahead goal came off of a great individual effort following a blocked shot by Conner Schneider. The Sabres added an empty net tally to seal the victory.
