WHEATON, ILL. - A mix of sun, snow, and wind greeted the Shattuck-St. Mary’s Golf Center of Excellence this past weekend as they competed at the HJGT Chicago Jr. Open in Wheaton, Ill. The crazy weather did little to hinder the play of the Sabres however as they returned to campus with six trophies.
Piper Hill ‘22, Gabby Tremblay ‘19, and Claudia Kim ‘22 completed the sweep of the Girls 14-18 division after 27 holes. Hill took first place with a score of 47-76, with Tremblay and Kim following closely with scores of 43-81 and 42-85 respectively.
Owen Mullen ‘21 captured first place in the Boys 14-15 division with a weekend total of 69-83. In the Boys 16-18 division, a three-way playoff hole between Ben Callaghan ‘20, Matt Cooper ‘19, and fellow competitor Evan Johnson was required to determine the winner. Callaghan sank a 20-foot birdie putt to win with a final score of 82-75. Cooper finished in second with scores of 76-81.
The Sabres will close out their fall season on November 3 and 4 in Phoenix, Ariz. at the FCWT Papago Classic.
