Figure Skating COE Completes Exhibition & Seminar

FARIBAULT, MN - Last weekend was a busy one for the Figure Skating Center of Excellence. The skaters kicked off the weekend with an exhibition on Friday night to showcase their competitive freestyle programs. The skating team leaves this coming Thursday for the Skate Kansas competition in Independence, Missouri. The skaters will compete against some of the best skaters from across the Midwest. Good luck to all of the skaters competing!

On Saturday, Team Sabres Synchronized Skating held its first prospect weekend. The team hosted four prospective synchronized skating team members, giving them the full Shattuck-St. Mary’s synchronized skating experience. The coaches and athletes held a synchronized skating skills clinic and showed the prospective skaters around the campus.

On Sunday, the Figure Skating COE hosted a Performance and Movement Seminar with highly acclaimed figure skating choreographer, Katherine Hill. SSM skaters, as well as skaters from around the Twin Cities enjoyed a high energy day of off-ice and on ice movement classes to explore space, time and energy through their skating. The classes focused on challenging skaters to achieve more dynamic movement on the ice, while focusing on performance and artistic expression.
